The lower two have matching gear, and it looks fine, the upper, just doesn't look right. Part of matching gear is it blends the rider with the bike, kinda that "One with the bike" thing. I totally agree with sport tourers and their "All Gear, All the Time" thing.

I found out my credit is better than I thought, so at least I'm not going to get gouged in interest rates when I buy. For something like a Ninja 250 I would love to just pay cash, but I don't have that kind of cash as a college student!
Oh wait, no his gear sorta matches, but yeah, I'm not a huge fan of day-glow, I guess it comes from seeing all the idiots pulling out 80's ski and snowboard clothes...
But on a bike, I certainly see that it makes sense in terms of visibility.
Obvious question, what's the difference in protection between a 150 dollar helmet and a 500 dollar one? Or is it just a weight reduction issue because they meet the same standards?
Just keep an eye out on cycletrader and craigslist for used bikes in your area.
The ninja 250 is a great choice, as is the ninja 500 or GS500F. I'm about 6'0, 220, and I fit on all of those bikes pretty well (with my favorite being the GS). Also, don't discount some of the 80's bikes. They can be a lot of fun, and good to learn on (and cheap!).
