I LOVE the gauges on my VFR. It even has a digital clock ;)
Granted, it is a V-4 with some decent performance, and not a cruiser...hehe.

Even my 79 KZ650 has a tach though... I think it is criminal not to have them. It lets you see your cruising rpms, monitor the best shift points, monitor your idle, etc. I wouldn't be happy without a tach.

Hey that's not fair, we have very similar engines!!

I have to agree that they do serve a purpose even on a cruiser. When my speedo cable went out, I judged my speed by what gear I was in and what RPM I was running (No cars around me to pace my speed)

I changed my idle speed and I couldn't have done that without the tach, well I could but how would I know what it was set to?

I also know that in 6th gear and at 3000 RPM, I can still accelerate without having to downshift. Now it isn't fast acceleration, but I can still move without lugging the engine...

I think some people may have Tach envy

I had a look on the Kawasaki web site, and the only cruiser that I found with a tach (as an option) was the 1500 Drifter. I wouldnt mind having one, but I think I can live without it.

I took a look at the Kawasaki web site for the Vulcan 750 (I live in the boonies) since the dealer is too far for a quick stop by.

What I noticed is that Kawasaki claims several gauges like oil pressure etc... but does not specifically mention a Tach gauge.

Anyone know what gauges the 2006/05 Kawasaki Vulcan 750 has?

The bike even has dual disk front brakes, drive shaft, temp gauge, 5 speed, plus more. Just seems to have more standard offerings than a Honda Shadow has even with any Honda OEM Extra's. Kawasaki also seems to offer alot more OEM options so there's no Non-OEM fit hassles. Drive it off the lot as you wanted it, even includes the option for crash bars.

the vulcan 750 is a very good "bang for the buck" bike!

It has a lot of neat stuff like the gauges, hydraulic valves, shaft drive, and center stand.

Listening to your bike instead of staring down at the handlebars while driving is probably a pretty good idea.

I would agree after a while but the sound of the engine is not always a good indicator, if the engine is running at a safe rpm or between shifts. After someone gets use to the proper sound going into or out of gear, is where your statement would come in.

Also I'd like to know if I have a slow Radiator leak before I pass the last station or city. Same for Oil pressure and battery not charging. (especially of the larger cc bikes- no push start there!)
