The Heat
I'm in Ft Worth... Yesterday we were 107 H/I 113. Today at the time of posting it's 104. I'm recovering from a dose of kidney stones I picked up from the heat, so I'm not riding for a few days, but I wouldn't ride in this stuff anyway. I'm a wuss... I'll ride at 8PM when it's only 100.

I was driving through Alabama on Saturday coming home from Pensacola Beach and stopped in between Montgomery and Birmingham. I can attest that it was "procreating" hot down there.Chip Beazley wrote:Here in Montgomery it is 101 degrees with a Heat Index of 106. This past weekend it was 104 and a heat index of 3 feet above hell. I rode a hundred miles but it was like riding in a blast furnace. Not very much fun for sure. If it is going to be the same this coming weekend I may putt around early in the morning and then park it for the rest of the day.
It has been in the mid 90's with high humidity in Ohio. Makes feel over 100.
But I've been riding to work every day this week.
A dog had his chain reduced one link at a time, every few days, until his chain was so short he could barely move. He never resisted because he was conditioned to the loss of his freedom slowly, over time. Are we in this country becoming like the dog?
I live in DC and work in Baltimore as a Stockroom Supervisor for Middle River Aircraft Systems. A co-worker said that the thermometer on the shipping dock read 105 yesterday. And that is next to a huge high-bay door for trucks to come in. Over on the otherside of the wall where I sit (no ventilation) it could have been hotter.
But I still got my hour and a half of overtime in.

In New Jersey yesterday, 98 and heat index of 105. Didn't stop me from riding to work, mesh jacket is pretty comfortable as long as I'm moving. Much better today, only in the mid 80's.

How is the traffic in NJ? When I leave for work at 430 it's nice and cool(about 80-85), but when I drive home and it's over 100, that's when I get stuck in the bumper to bumper traffic. The mesh doesn't do much in that situation.

Traffic's pretty reasonable going in at 6:30. I was late this morning, so naturally got into gooey traffic, but it never actually stopped. I've been waiting until 6 or 7 pm to leave to avoid getting stuck going home. My commute is from south to central Jersey, I'm sure north Jersey is worse.Andrew78108 wrote:How is the traffic in NJ?
