recommended SportBikes?

I'd rather get a bike I can get here? Suzuki, Honda, Yamaha are the close ones here. Any more stores?

For some reason you need it to look cool? You sure you're getting a bike for the right reason? If this is your first bike, even if you've rode someone else's GSX-R, CBR, YZF, or ZX-R bike, I would highly reccomend you get a GS500, EX250, or EX500. It takes alot of skill and awareness to ride those supersports, skills that can only be obtained through lots of practice. Alot easier and faster to get there by starting on a more forgiving machine.

there's nothing wrong w/ wanting to be cool and do cool things. of course, assuming the cool things you want aren't illegal.

wanting a cool bike is normal. cool of course, is subjective.

and like i said... to those that think sportbikes are coolest bikes, it's hard to be a newbie rider here in the US. we don't really have much choice for starter sportbikes.

I've ridden sportbikes before and I was thinking of getting one

ridden them around the block? 50 miles? 500 miles? 5000 miles? at the track? in a parking lot?

there is no way to make a recommendation based on what you said because we have no idea your experience level.

you want a bike to look cool, which is fine and all, but a cool looking bike doesn't look so cool if it's got a cracked/scratched fairing/pipes/etc so most people will recommend a lower HP bike to learn on.

if you have not yet taken a Basic Riders Course, it is in your best interest to take one.

Not sure your age, but insurance on a Race Replica bike will be pretty high in most places compared to most other bikes out there especially for a new rider, under 25years old and male.

The GS500 looks pretty cool to a lot of people, and is also a decent bike to learn on with plenty of power. the Ninja 250/500 are highly recommended, and although not classified a sport bikes, even a lot of riders think they are.

I'd recommend looking for something that ends in "250" and taking the MSF Basic Rider Course. That will get you started.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the ZZR250 is the Canadian version of the EX250 they sell here in the US, which is an excellent beginning "sportbike." (The quotes are because the seating position is more of a standard with a sport fairing) I have that bike (the US version) and, being a beginner biker myself, love it. It's very forgiving for newbies like me in terms of not throwing you off at the slightest mistake and looks great as well!

From your posts, and no offense intended, you seem to be a beginner as well. I would suggest looking into taking a class like the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) beginner's course we have here. I'm assuming you're from Canada since you asked about the ZZR250. Maybe some of your fellow Canadians on the board can help you with finding out what the equivalent course is up there. Yeah I am from Canada. Like 2 of my friends also have bikes and their helping me out to pick one out. Their not beginners but their not pros either.
