I've been riding my 900 for over a week straight now. I can say there is no lack of power although I haven't taken the wife for a spin yet. Still waiting on my sissy bar to come in. Tons of low end torque, I'm doing 90 on the freeway without realizing it. And still more pull to go above that.

A couple weeks ago when Zootech, Scan and I escorted -Holiday for a bit on his journey, I was riding tailgunner because it is still in break in period. Since I going by the Motoman method of ride it like ya stole it for break in, I would slow way down then fly back up through the gears. Easily getting over 100mph to catch back up with them. And there was still more to boot if I needed it.

I'm not crazy about the spoked wheels either, but all the benefits far outweigh spoked wheels. I don't think you can go wrong with any Vulcan you pick, but the 900 definitely has more than enough giddy-up.

Oh, insurance is $289/year with State Farm.
A dog had his chain reduced one link at a time, every few days, until his chain was so short he could barely move. He never resisted because he was conditioned to the loss of his freedom slowly, over time. Are we in this country becoming like the dog?

If you can wait for it, the new Yamaha 1300 is coming in October. 1300 cc, fuel injection, cast wheels, metal fenders, belt drive, water cooled, + lots more and not too high a price tag for it's size. Sort of an upgrade on the 1100 V-Star.

I was actually looking at this bike as well, well on Yamaha's site. But i got to thinking, why pay almost the same amount and get less cc's? I also think the Vulcan 1600 is a bit nicer looking than the vstar 1300.

Nice ride nyrblue35. Welcome to the Vulcan owners club. :)

I think you will be very happy with you choice.
