around here theres this popular two lane (each way) highway w/ a limit of 55. the state police will tailgate you rediculously close as long as your on the road, and if you speed up over 60 or 65 theyll pull you over, and if you move to the right theyll just go tailgate the next guy. i was behind a cop when i first saw it done and i couldnt beleive it.

So if an accident were to happen what would be said? That the biker was speeding and or the cop didn't see him so he rear ended him? Then this will make people think motorcycles are more dangerous than ever without giving second thought to who ever was tailgating.

We have a serious problem here with 18 wheelers tailgating at high speeds and when there's an accident the news and the police state that they don't know what could've happened.

One cop here pulled out in front of me and some other people riding expecting us to stop suddenly just to check our tags.
One thing you can count on: You push a man too far, and sooner or later he'll start pushing back.

Another reason I think unmarked police cars are WRONG

Your experience adds to my argument, that unmarked police vehicles serve no useful purpose. Instead, they compound the problem of a law officer who needs to (legitimately) stop someone. That 'someone' cannot tell for sure who the heck is trying to stop them, just as your experience demonstrates. And for those roque cops out there, it gives them additional 'cover' to perform their shenanigans.

wow i thought there were a lot of cold persuit states?

we have to stay back 3 car lengths on a rutine "pull over" , and if he decides to gun it, its far enough to where u can see him still, and if he gets out of that then tough, its not worth losing the motorcyclest life or an officers own for something stupid as a speeding ticket to small possesion of drugs, so theres the hint guys, if u come to n. chuck, you can get away scotch free if u can ride lol, but they will just find u later when ur least expecting it, always do.

I have also seen this happen in Conn. It's not unique to Mass. BTW, all state police cars in Conn are unmarked. If you live here they are easy to point out tho. Crown Vics without hub caps.

If you were on a hi-way with good lighting you should have pulled over to let him pass. BTW, the cop didn't give you a ticket because he didn't have his ticket book with him. Your argument didn't sway him at all.

Ive noticed a lot more unmarked cruisers lately on certain roads. Theyre usually SUVs around here but theyve got the obvious tells. Fords, true black, two antennas dead center in the back. They seem to get a lot of people, as I always see them already pulling someone over, not on the road.

It's a catch 22 situation. There have been so many situations where someone posing as cop in an unmarked car pulls people over and jacks them, that I don't blame you for getting the heck away from them. If he didn't have his ticket book with him then why did he even bother with you?
