I have had enough large bugs and rocks hit my helmet to make me glad I have it. Also have a couple of friends that are still walking the earth because of their helmets.

I think your percentage is too low. Around here I would say 80% of riders are helmetless. Oddly enough the sportbike rider crowd seems to have the highest rate of helmut use around here.

Since I started riding I've only seen one guy on a cruiser bike wearing a full face helmet. I have seen plenty of half helmets tho.

The thing I don't understand is the New York Riders who pull over in Greenwich (1st exit when you cross into Connecticut) to TAKE OFF their helmets.

I understand the comfort factor, but helmets aren't really uncomfortable once you get used to them and I95 in Connecticut is not exactly safe...

the most I've ever done without a helmet is moving my bike from the front of my building to the parking garage...

I've ridden mine to the end of the cul-de-sac a couple of times.

It's the law in Virginia.

It shouldn't be.

I wouldn't ride without one anyway.

When I lived in Indiana I swear it was 95% helmetless -- didn't matter what kind of bike, and I would get actively laughed at for wearing mine. Michigan has a helmet law, and I too wear mine regardless.

I have zipped up and down the block a couple of times without one, though, mostly when I want to test a valve adjustment or something.

I allways wear one. I am about 99% sure it is the law in all of Canada

I was just thinking maby you guys in the states have a choice not to wear on because the government does not pay for your health care like they do up here.

I live in Ohio, and we have our choice of wearing one or not. I always wear a full face Shoei even on my cruiser. The worst thing I can think of is surviving a crash and then finding out the end of my nose was ground of on the tarmac. Full face it is. I'd guess that 50 % of the riders around here wear helmets.
