bingo, frame sliders do more harm than good if your going faster than about 5mph. They help reduce fairing damage in minor drops but can cause frame damage in a crash at speed.
I would look into going with race plastics now. Hell maybe just turn it into a track bike.
it depends... i saw two bikes that got saved by their frame sliders from a high speed lowside at the tracks... the ground ate up half of the slider but no bent frame.
i really doubt it bent my frame but we'll see.
EDIT: oh and i'll wait before i buy race plastics... now, i don't have to worry about buying race plastics for the track since this one is sracthed already.

If the slider is made of the correct material, it should wear in the slide instead of acting as an anchor in water.

i do have full coverage.
i do not intend to report it to my insurance unless my frame is damaged, which i doubt.
plastics are expensive but i don't intend to replace them yet.
and if im gonna replace it, im gonna replace w/ it race bodywork, not OEM plastics. or i'll get a sharkskinz street bodywork.

yeah but they prolly low sided at speed in a corner with the bike 4 inches from the tarmac from which a milli second later it was sliding across nice smooth grass until it sedately stopped
not quite the "throw it down the bitchumen and gravel path from a upright position" is it
good your not hurt.....bikes are easily fixed or replaced
