i belong to hog - both national and local... i can't really say i've gotten much from the national hog membership - other than a few free pins from events. i've been a little more active in the local hog club...

Good question.
I waited 4 months before joining the local HOG chapter, they all seem to be nice folks and not a bunch of RUB's, so for now it be a wait and see kinda of thing.

Years ago our local dealer approached a few of us to put together the Local Chapter which we commenced doing. Seemed like it could be a good thing, especially a way for new people to meet new friends.

Well at our third meeting I quit in disgust when they voted not to allow any bike on any ride other than a H-D. This went against everything I believed.

I understand as per ArticHarleyMan's piece that they have changed as I believe the local chapter has...although I haven't been close enough to verify that.

I belong to the National but currently not the local. I will keep my National as long as I own a H-D. I figure the fly and ride I did out west paid for belonging. The local I will consider again but going for ice cream after each monthly meeting kind of wore out on me.
