I wouldnt doubt a psychological angle at all. I definitely have a tendency to overthink things. Being new to bikes has me feeling quite inadequate, because i dont like needing to rely on other people to solve my problems. As i learn more I'll feel more confident and not so knee jerk.
However, I also dont trust these mechanics either (for good reason).
Say the bike was running too hot, what would be the signs there is a problem that needs to be addressed? I presume stalling would be one. Anything else I should look for?
Engine extra hot after oil change.

Perhaps when they changed your oil they fiddled with a couple other things. Maybe your timing was a bit off and they adjusted it for you. If it is more advanced now, it would make your bike run hotter (and it would seem to run better, as you mentioned). Maybe they cleaned out a clogged air filter which made the bike run a bit leaner, and therefore hotter as well... I don't think an oil change itself would make it run hotter unless the oil had significantly different characteristics than the old one. Does your bike have an external oil cooler on it?

No I dont think so. What I'm suspect of is whether they are intentionally casuing me problems with each "inspection" so that i'll constantly need to be going back. They know how new i am to this. And they started our relationship by telling me the bike was in dire mechanical shape and i should sell it. They said they found all sorts of aluminum in the oil when they first changed it. After this change I asked if they found anything odd in the oil and they said it was fine (different guy at the shop I might add). Strange for it to change from a situation where i should get rid of the bike altogether to one where there are no issues (of that type). They also "missed" that my front breaks were totally shot, despite that I specifically required they be checked, which is why i needed to go back after only a month. I just dont trust them.
