Agreed. And you wont have the restrictions of a bike (1 passenger, not much cargo space). Unless you're going to explode if you don't get a bike, just get a car to start.

At your age, I took the car license, because was easier to get a car than a bike.....

I'm 16 and I just got both. Here in the central valley of California I can ride all year round as we only get about 13 inches of rain. Another bonus of the bike was that it only cost me $1000 for something that runs great and looks good. Around here that kind of a bargin is almost impossible as far as cars go. On the rare occasion that I can't ride the bike, we almost always have an extra car free.

Insurance on a bike at your age will probably be sky high. Get a car. At your age with zero road experience, you need to learn some things about how to handle traffic and different road conditions. That doesn't come from a book or a weekend driving test. It comes from years of experience.

Although I have no doubt you have the ability to learn to operate a vehicle, there's alot more to it than that. You're better off in a steel cage than out exposed to nature. Good luck.

I agree with this completely.

I told my younger brother he needed to drive a car for at least a year before going out on the streets with his motorcycle. You need to get used to driving in general before you hop on a bike and tackle the various road conditions.

im 16 also and i live near toronto, i think from reading all this great info on these forums im going to have to put a bike away for now, but for how long is the question? Im going to become a doctor hopefully so that means like 8 years of school, do u think that when im in university it will be useful to get a bike or should i wait until im like 30 and a practicing doctor to get a bike? THanks.

+1, should learn how to get around and drive in your area in a car before you take on the challege of riding, becuase learning how to ride is tough enough without throwing in the obstacle of learning the rules of the road at the same time
