Yes we do 'sissify' our kids way too much. I think thats a seperate issue from making them take responsibility though.

Lots of parents just don't talk to their kids about these things. I'd be willing to bet all those kids in that car that almost hit you were not once sat down and told when they get a car that they need to be responsible for any accident, and the consequences of running away from one. If you had gotten their plate number, I'm sure you could have had them up for leaving the scene of an accident.

Schools don't teach children this stuff.

x2 friend. The only accadent I was ever in (my cage) I had backed into a friends car (didn't know it was his at the time) in the snow. Was pretty unavoidable with the ice and all but I wen't out into the building to find out who's car it was. When it was my friends we just swapped insurance and all. He offered to do it outside of insurance but I didn't want a shop to screw it up or somthing so I did the right thing and let insurance handle it. What if I skipped off? I don't know about you all but I would feel terrible about ruining a friends new car.

Not all kids are like that. I just turned 18, so I guess I'm not technically a kid anymore, but I'd like to think that when I was 16-17, if I got into an accident, I would take responsibility for what I did. I agree with the comment that much of today's youth is sissified, but not all. IMHO, I don't believe I was sissified too much, but that may have been because of the circumstances I grew up in.

It's a lot like how non-bikers view all of us. They see stupids squids who make up __% of the biker population, but because of that percentage, many see all of us as crazy, out of control bikers.

Glad you're alright, any spill, no matter how small, totally sucks. You'll be back in no time though, brake levers are cheap!
