if you want a sportbike... go w/ the SV650S and get the lower fairing kit if you like to have that full fairing look.Derailer wrote:That Fischer sure does look nice! What is going to be the price tag on it? I would prefer to purchase a new bike and stick with it for a year or so, so I am leaning toward the Kawasaki 650R and the Suziki SV 650.
or go w/ the hyosung 650R.
the fischer has a lot of goodies if you check its specs. but beinga new bike... a lot of people will be hesitant about it.
the ninja 650R is pretty much a standard bike w/ sportbike fairings.

$7,995 according to the website.
The SV is probably the most practical choice at this moment in time, but as we all know motorbikes are bought with other body parts as well as our brains.

I recommend the Ninja 650R. I had a chance to ride one, it is a great machine. It will help you get your skills up to speed before hopping on a 100+ hp crotch rocket.Derailer wrote:That Fischer sure does look nice! What is going to be the price tag on it? Starting smaller is very important in the development of the rider. Your skills will grow faster on a bike that inspires confidence and is easier to ride.
In a year or so, if you do happen to "get tired" of whatever bike you choose, sell it for a small loss and move up... but at least start with something that will facilitate proper learning.
My suggestions:
Ninja 650R
Ninja 500R
SV650 (either one)
GS500F
Some people start on the 600 katana, which isn't too bad either, it is just heavier than the other bikes mentioned. If you are a bigger guy, you probably wouldn't have a problem with the extra weight. With a 5.3 gallon gas tank, it has a great fuel range too.. and is comfy enough for around town.

I've said it before and I'll say it again...Derailer wrote:I know that I will grow out of a 500cc too fast.
80% of the riders you meet do NOT possess the skills to ride a 250 to it's limits. And of that 80% of riders, 99% of them THINK they are that good.
[b]Are you a beginner rider?
Have a lot of questions about motorcycling?
Not sure what bike to start with?

Hey guys is the Hyusong 650 available in the states? That is one sexy looking bike. What's the MSRP if it is? And would it be on the level as the SV/EX of the same class?
The GS500 and EX500 are both great looking bikes. My cousin is actually selling his Kat right now because he rode a friend's GS and loved it a lot more than his Katana because it was lighter and 'cooler' (my cousin is a squid, rides without any gear whatsoever, and likes to do wheelies/endos whenever possible).
But that's about as far as my personal experience goes with the Katana. He wouldn't let me ride it
