those GS500's are fun. friends just bought one and let me ride it, the difference between my 250 and her 500 is pretty noticable.
remember- any idiot can buy a liter bike and ride fast in a straight line, its the curves that seperate the men from the boys.
smaller bikes = better for curves.

roads like your favorite, the dragon. the smaller bikes will be better.
on sweepers though... the bigger engine sportbikes are better
on racetracks(at least every AMA worthy)... i bet the superbike class will still put out faster lap times than the supersport class.

Congratz.
My bikeday has been pushed back a week due to the carbs being too rich and causing the bike to stall. My guy believes that's the reason behind the stalling, so I'm not gonna take any chances and give him another week.

little bit of an update for ya'll...
I've been crazy busy this week but I did manage to take the bike out for a few(60) miles this afternoon...
WOW!
Its still in its 600 mile break-in phase, but the thing is a blast to ride. One of my roomates(has an S83) and I went riding out this fun curvy road out in the middle of nowhere. There were some pretty tight turns with decreasing radii, most of which had some form of debris(usually gravel) along the outside edges. I can tell I have a long way to go to being a good rider, but I just ticked over the 100 mark and from the looks of things I've gotten the bike pretty leaned over so far.
I did make one mistake however. One curve we faced was a 20mph 160* with a decreasing radius. The first time through I was really cautious and did fine. Second time I came in a little hot then realized I would have to lean the bike too far on the new tires(rear end started to slip a tiny tiny bit) so I ended up running over the line a bit. Luckily, I was in the middle of no where with very few cars, but never the less, lesson learned.
Other than that good times. For anyone considering a GS of some sort, I definitely am loving mine so far. PLENTY of power for any normal non-track riding. I can only get mine to 5500 rpm during break-in...cant wait to open her up a bit

Since you're around the CS/B area you may wanna check out this route some time.
It starts in Caldwell and ends around 3090 I believe. Once you hit Harvey Mitchell you'll run into some traffic but beyond that it looks pretty good.
