The only place I ever have it parked these days is either at work or at home in my garage. At work I have a small piece of wood that it goes on, and obviously I don't at home.

When I'm stopped at the store or something it's only ever for 5 minutes or less, so I don't bother.

However, I do remember years ago finding my Katana 750 minutes away (or so it seemed) from tipping over. The sidestand was a good 2-3 inches down into the ashpalt. It gets a little soft here when temps top 42 celcius.

I swear another 5 minutes and it would have gone over. It looked so strange leaning over that much, I saw it and just started sprinting towards it.

i have never used one, but i might get a couple...

this summer my friend left a deep imprint on my new blacktop driveway.

neither of us thought about it...until he went to leave hours later & he had to pull his stand outta my driveway.

I used to. It depends on the bike. I had old Kawasakis that were top heavy and leaned waaaay over on the kickstand. That caused it to put a great deal of the bikes weight on the stand. Carrying a small square of plywood was mandatory for parking on asphalt throughout the summer.

My current bike has a short stand that holds the bike almost upright. I've never had a problem parking it on the sidestand, even when the temps get above 110F, as they often do around here.

Yep. I do. I noticed once when I forgot it and I parkded at work I came out to leave and my sidestand left a nice little hole in the asphalt. Not enough to tip the bike but there none the less.

I use a 4 in. round electrical box cover, mostly because I don't want to damage peoples driveways. Anywhere else depends on conditions.

kinda hard to damage a gravel driveway with a kickstand lol.

I use a piece of wood, or a coaster.

I use a broken cement block when I park at home (L shaped) which works perfectly. When I'm out and about I bring...I think its the cap to a pickle jar. The guy who sold me the bike schooled me on using it.

Where do you live?
I'm in Toronto. I haven't seen a gravel driveway in the city since the 60's. I guess I'm so used to asphalt driveways that I didn't even think of mentioning it in my post!

i got a draw full of the things,they were giving them away ay a bike race we went to some time back and i ended up with loads of them.and before you ask ...no i never think to carry one with me.xjrjohn
