Yeah, in motorcycle-land, that's not short, it's "tall midget!" (Laugh, it's funny.)

Good luck with your search, and if the salesdrones give you any crap, ask to see the owner, not the manager. No one else matters to complain to.

I am 5 foot 1 1/2 inches - I bought a Honda Shadow VLX. It didn't fit me very well either. I had it lowered by 2 inches (front and back), put risers on it and purchased a custom corbin solo seat that lowered me to the ground AND pushed me forward where I can reach the forward controls with NO problems (before I had to constantly pull myself forward to reach the controls). The bike now fits me like a glove. I cannot express how important it is that a bike is comfortable and fits the rider. Before I did all these things, the bike was not comfortable and being a new rider....well this wasn't a good thing - not for learning to ride and not for my confidence. The money I spent fitting this bike to me was well worth every single penny. It is making the difference between me enjoying and wanting to ride and giving it up altogether because the bike didn't fit me. I probably could have purchased a Honda Rebel or something like that, but I knew that I would want to upgrade to a bigger engine within a month or two - I planned on (and am doing) some interstate/highway riding and I didn't think a Rebel was going to handle that very well. I will probably upgrade this one within a year - but in the meantime I am having a blast with a bike that fits me well which is really boosting my confidence :D

Help!!
I need to know the maximum or best size risers I can install with my stock handlebars to bring them closer to me That won't require me to make any adjustments on the cables and such. (2006 V-Star 650 Classic) Someone suggested 2" max., any other opinions???

I am 5'3'' and am having to lean forward a bit to reach them and it becomes very uncomfortable. Everything else fits quite nice.

By the way, I took the plunge (Safety Course) one week before my 41st birthday and have loved it ever since!!! I had never been on a bike prior to then. That was just over a year ago and I just broke my 1500 mile cherry!

Thanks

I just want to say....:welcome2: to TMW. :)

I can't help you with your risers inquiry except that a motorcycle should have the answer to your question.

I hope you enjoy the forums. :)
