I finaly got the bike.... ninja 250...

U guys were right.. it did not interfear with the car stick shift way.. last time i was on a bike... was 11 years ago... when i was 12.

I was amazed... everything came back like I have been riding for ever ( operation of the bike that is.)

Went around the block and loved it...

I gotta work on my braking though.. i tend to use front brakes more...

You are supposed to use your front brakes more (both brakes at the same, but more stopping power from the front).

Do yourself a huge favor and take the MSF.

Anyway, if you are skidding tires when downshifting, you can't drive a clutch for caacaa. Dumping the clutch on an idling engine when a vehicle is at speed has the same effect as dumping the clutch on a revving engine while at a standstill, namely, breaking traction and tearing up the clutch, driveline, and tire(s).

Us old timers learned to use the throttle to bring engine speed up when downshifting so the drive gear speed matched the driven gear speed and there would be no grinding or tire skidding. This was necessary in the olden days before transmissions had synchros, and every "average" driver or rider could do it. An "above average" driver or rider could downshift a non-synchro trans without even using the clutch, with nary a snik to be heard.

A really "above average" driver or rider can downshift in a hard corner at speed with nary a bobble. This skill is very useful for decreasing radius turns where the choice for "average" drivers or riders is limited to over-revving the engine going in or lugging the engine coming out. Not upsetting balance under braking to downshift is easily worth a length going into a corner and gains the inside line every time. Not having to lug the engine or downshift after straightening out after the corner is worth another length or more. I still do this occasionally on the track with my V8 S10, and years ago I did it with dirt bikes and road racers.

I dont skid around when I down shift every time... LOL..
What i meant WAS THAT it happens IF I WERE TO down shift without slowing down first.... ( in another words if I were to purposly let go of the clutch.. )

I have been driving stick for 10 years now... on and off road.. mostly off... I think i got the clutch and stick down.. on a car that is.. LOL DONT GET ME WRONG.. there always room to learn... that why I said " above avarage.." NOT EXPERT>>>

BUT yea... I admit it... I am a TOTAL NOOB when it comes to BIKING....

anywho... I do get what you saying about the " rider" and turning/skiding...
