Thanks for all the advice guys. Looks like I may be taking another look at the smaller bikes. I would like something lighter, like MotoF150 said I am used to a lighter dirtbike. I'm planning a trip to a local bike shop to get some time sitting on the bikes. That way I can get a feel for what is going to fit me the best.

XL250, hey? Drop in a Yoshimura close ratio 5-speed trans, Powerol stroker, pick a moderate cam, CB500T carb, and a Rocky down-pipe with reverse cone megaphone. Mount the front fender on a fork brace. Head for the mountains. I rode a XL250 modified like this from Tennessee to Alaska and back, and had no problems maintaining 70mph anywhere it was safe to do so. I did raise the fender to its stock position for the Al-Can part of the trip.

I have no doubt any of the late model 250 cruisers, standards, or sport bikes will have any problems in West Virginia, just don't be afraid of the gearbox.
