Do everyone a favor and try not to kill or maim anyone other than yourself when you're trying to "keep up."

You are right its around about 2000 feet at 160 mph - of course if you are travelling that speed and blink for .75 second you'll have travelled over 1000 feet at that speed.

There is no need for it, except for a) bragging rights ("My bike can go 0-60 in 3.2 seconds - if someone else is riding it in a controlled situation) or b) breaking the speed limit big time.

2000 feet in 1.5 seconds is roughly 909 mph

1.5 seconds at 160 mph is about 350 feet.

Maybe Blackwolf should find some new friends to ride with....at least until you have the skills to "keep up".
Your friends should be more respectful of your "newness" and slow down the pace when you ride with them.

his friends is not the problem.

he should just ride his own pace but his friends should wait for him on major direction changes.

that's what i do when i ride w/ much faster riders.

Lots of squids around the Orlando area. I go to UCF and it is insane how many wreckless bikers with no clue there are around here.

Start smaller, you can always move up. If your friend couldn't keep up on a 600, he doesn't know how to ride.

On my group rides, we have a VFR800 Interceptor, my Ducati 1000, an R6, and a ninja 500. Nobody struggles to keep up.

Ride your own ride... if your "friends" completely ditch you, you should find new friends with a brain. When riding with others, there are particular "rules and regulations" as far as distance, speed, formation, etc... A lot of kids around here just seem to try and go as fast as they can, but ignore much more technical (and better) roads where the PSL is 25-30 mph, but the curves are worth it.

BTW, take the MSF.

/agree. especially about the friends bit.

So basically its not the size of the motor or the speed of the bike, its the skills but what exactly are the skills to keep up....

Btw, so you said if my 'friends' ditch me...this isnt my situation it was a buddy of mines, im not even on the bike scene yet....but thanks for the replies..
