On the MSF course: We learned as much from our classmates as the instructors. Many students have years of experience. Don't be afraid to pick their brains -- everyone likes talking about their bikes and their experiences.
Don't sweat "the box" -- it ain't easy, but dropping a foot won't disqualify you (I know from experience).
