I'd go with the Ninja 500R. Excellent beginner, plenty of power, forgiving, comfortable, and not too expensive.

George: Shut up Lenny, you're too stupid for a dog.
Lenny: At least I'm not an @ssoff.

In an addition to this post, what would you guys say about a Multistrada 620? If you guys could also give me an estimated price quote since I can't sem to find one on Ducati or anywhere else for that matter. Would you say those are good bikes??

I'd go with the SV650. About the insurance, I have a cruiser, an 01 Suzuki Volusia 800cc. Full coverage for me, with very high limits is $422 a year with Allstate. My grandma actually works for California Casualty and they wouldn't insure me! (Although neither would Geico or Progressive). It's because I'm 20 years old, with 4 tickets total, including two accidents my fault, one not. And just so you know, CO has either the first or second highest insurance rates in the country, so yours should be about the same for full coverage on an SV.

I get looks all the time on my ninja 500... most people, men and women, have no idea what bikes usually look like. I constently get wierd looks when I tell people its a 500... the ladies look at me like Im riding an R1. If they see you on two wheels, it wont matter what it is... they are just concerned with the image they have about bikers.

The Multistrada 620 has an MSRP of $7,995.

They are good bikes... very fun and sound great. Just keep in mind the 6000 mile valve check interval (17,000 if you upgrade with aftermarket MPB collets), and I think it is up to 12,000 miles for the new 07's.l

They are pricy... I'd probably look for a used one. People move up from the 620s all the time.
