When I worked at an auto dealership, sales would turn over their customers to the service manager, who then contracted with various aftermarket outfitters.
You say "I want black nerf bars on my truck please". Then they say, "Ok drop the truck off here 9am Monday morning and we'll call you when it's ready. It'll be $485"
That's more or less how it went at that dealership. Motorcycles dealerships probably vary.
Oh yeah, the "in" salesman always got to split the commission with the service manager. Everyone else who referred customers got screwed
