I've driven down there, and I've driven up here in Colorado Springs, and I have to say that they are not quite as bad, but still crazy... I voted helmet always, I wear my fullface even when I'm just going around the block to test a small mod or adjustment...

The risk of injury aside, I find 60 mph wind in my eyes incredibly unpleasant.
sn't that bad!!!

The visor on my previous lid was so damaged that I used to ride with it up all the time and often still ride that way!

Like I said before, in my town you need the helmet by law, but the transit police, doesn´t bother you too much if you not wear it.....

I think that half of the bikers of my town, doesnt wear it..... :(

I wanted to know what you all are seeing as far as helmet laws and what's required to ride without them.
In Texas, you need to pass the MSF course or have $10,000 in life insurance.
Hey Vulcan,

I grew up in Las Cruces. I still fly in there about once a month.

It's not the city that has no helmet law, it's the whole state. Much like we have next door in AZ.

I'm glad I always wore a brain bucket when I was learning to ride in L.C. I landed on my noggin a couple of times. The large population of inexperienced drivers from the university doesn't help. The proliferation of 80+ yr. old drivers spending their winters in the desert makes it worse.

I'll admit to taking a short ride every now and then without my helmet here in AZ, but I'd have to say that around 99% of my riding is done with the lid on. I just don't have that much faith in the cagers that I have to share the road with.
Theres no helmet laws in AZ or NM? Wow. I was gonna make a joke about new mexican drivers... but I guess now VulcanNasty and just come on down and defend his new home... and I dont need pilot to land on my street, hit me with their flight pack over the head, and show me a thing or two about short take offs and landings!

Hey congratz on moving over there, I like the place alot... and when I was working at Sisbarro I was thinking of moving there... I really do like it more than El Paso. And Flynrider, I lived in Phoenix for a few years in my childhood, and have some relatives there! Its cool that you fly, my dad use to take me sometimes, and I even got a Jr. license as a teenager... maybe Ill save up some money and finish everything up.

I always wear a helmet and I always will, even if they repeal the law.

I think about it like this: Riding a bike without a helmet is much like having sex with a stranger without a condom. Of course there's no guarantee that you'll ever get hurt, but do you really want to take THAT much of a chance?
