It's a supersport. As such it is designed to react to all rider inputs with no room for error.
Out of all bikes available on the market, why this one?

acouple reasons its nice (i know not a good reason to get it for that)
some of my friends have 600cc bikes they say there not bad to learn on at all. im 6'4 and a 600cc fits me well im comfortable and after my classes im gonna take some more safty classes so i think i can handle a r6.

So, no offense, but we hear this all the time. Are you sure that you're different from all the other new riders out there?
Riding is a set of skills that are NOT easy to pick up. And starting on a difficult to ride bike will not help you.

Its a bad idea, but its your neck and wallet.
What I will ask you to do is to check the insurance premium of an R6 against a sub 50bhp bike.
I guarantee you'll be staggered by the result. Reason that supersports, especially for inexperienced riders are so expensive? Because they cost the insurance companies more in payouts than sub 50bhp 'learner' machines.
In other words accident statistics say that a hell of a lot of inexperienced supersports riders who thought they could handle it, didn't.
There are exceptions to the rule, you might even be one but the odds are you won't be. It's said here time and time again, "The aim is for this to be your first bike, not your last"

For the record Kal, I think he's after the YZF6 which is closer to the 599 or sv650.

Isn't the YZF a previous generation 600cc flagship from yamaha befoe their r6's came out? Kinda like the situation with the zzr600. As you already know but for others out there who might not, the 599 has honda's f3 motor under its sexy frame.
All im saying is I think the OP would be better off on a sv650 as Sev already suggested.
Some other bikes to consider is the Ninja 650, and Hyosung/UM Gt650R.
Also If the OP hasn't read the stickies in the New Bikers Forum about 600cc+ sportbikes, THEY SHOULD. It will put things in perspective. Plus if your friends are gonna diss you for starting on anything other than a 600 race replica bike... find someone that just wants to enjoy motorcycling with a group instead of showing off their scratched and broken fairings at cruise missile speeds.

When I was at MSF I told my instructorS ( They have been riding bikes for about 30 years) how I was going to buy a gixxr 750 as my first bike and how I ended up getting ninja 250, he said one can start with any bike he/she wants as long as the know what the beast can do.
They said that it is all depends on how much risk one is willing to take. If I am in control of myself, know what the bike is capable of, stick to DOs and DOnts, never go beyond my skills and do not take much risk then I can start with any bike I want.
In any case I dont regret buying a 250. And YES there were times that I was glad that this bike wasnt a 600.
As for the R6; All I know is that my next bike is going to be an R6 and I am planing on getting one as soon as I save enough money to buy my beast.

ya i read it, it help me understand better. im not sayin im getting for sure all im asking is what you guys think about it? i mean it is the bike i like but things can always change.
