The BET: Hopkins vs Roberts in GP

Actually my last post was before I watched the race. Roberts had a mechanical that took him out. Hopkins lead early before being passed by Roberta and a couple of others and headed off into the gravel trap. Olivier Jacque had and incredible race for being off so long, for starting where he did, and for taking so long to find hiw rhythem. He was roping Rossi in by 1/2 second a lap and it looked at 3 laps from the end that he just might get him for the lead. It was an impresive ride. You could see him dicing with Biaggi for a few laps, Biaggi blasting by him on the straight, Jacque blasting by him in the corners. Unfortunately for everyone else, Rossi is as dominant in the rain as he is in the dry. I really thought Roberts had a hell of a chance if it rained. Rain is what got him his title after all.....

another mechanical DNF... jeessssshhh..... that's 2 in 3 races..... as homer would say "wooo hooo!"

i hope Kenny ends up on a Yamaha for 2006. there. i said it.

well... kenny is teaching me a good lesson. sometimes all that loyalty is misplaced. time to move on!

funny that hoppers bike broke on the warmup lap... better luck than kenny has had... but the results for these guys are just not coming...

sucks to be suzuki. (however great to see edwards finding his form on the yam )

brief update:

Suzuki boys still getting whooooped... but the lap times for the top 10 have often been within the same second, so competition is very stiff. It looks like Team Suzuki is getting closer... it could be Bridgestone needs just a smidge better tire to keep up with the others, little changes. etc...

Update #2:

Nearing the end of the GP season and loe and behold Kenny is 10 points ahead of Hopkins !! Three rounds left and it's 63 for Kenny and 53 for Hopkins...

Australia, Turkey and Spain are all that remain... so it's down to the wire like a good bet should be...

With kenny's broken wrist they say he is out for the next rounds as well --- press reports show he isn't at the GP in Turkey... hopefully he'll return for the final race of the season.

Hopkins picked up 6 points, so now at 59 to 63... we'll see what happens at the Turkish GP...

Turkish GP: Kenny is out for the remainder of the season, and his contract isn't renewed with Suzuki for 2006. I happen to think this is a good thing, since he may have an opportunity to be picked up by another team and then we'll be able to see just how he compares to other riders on similar equipment. I'd love to see a Yamaha team with Rossi, Edwards and Roberts!!

As for the Team Suzuki GP bet, Hopkins got 14th place and 1 point, so it's at 60 to 63 now. It'll be good to see if Hopkins can get 4 points at the final round! That's a 10th place finish, i think. If he ties at 63, Kenny still has the highest finishing position of the year...
