i don't get how people could mess up like that. :?

i learned that lesson when i was learning to drive a car.
That kid looks about 15 so he probably does not know how to drive a car. Some people also start riding straight away instead of driving for ten years before they even get on a bike.

yeah, that's the only reason i could think of for somebody to mess up like that.

although... i did see somebody in my MSF course mess up like that. she's probably in her mid 30s and im sure she knows how to drive. that one i was like WTF??? she's even in an underpowered 250cc bike. they sent her home i believe.

I actually learned riding motorcycles(dirt bikes really) first before I learned how to drive a manual transmission car. Started out at 13 on my friends 100 2 stroke I think it was, or something around there. Then moved to a 250, then back down to a 125, then bought my own 125. All 2 strokes. At 14 I taught myself in a 5 speed pontiac firebird. I actually picked it up quickly.

I think the main thing to consider is that people don't really comprehend how delicate the clutch level and throttle controls on a motorcycle are. Ive seen a guy launch a 80cc dirt bike straight up in the air and landed across the street. Good thing he let go, and I dont think he was actually sitting on the thing or jumped up right as he dumped the clutch in the high rpm's.

Couple the lack of understanding of delicate controls with a group of friends telling you, "Oh yea, 600's are little bikes" and you have been cleared for takeoff!

For the love of GOD, shut up.

1) It can be difficult to master riding a bike
2) 250cc is not underpowered
3) shutup shutup shutup
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

Being that I have been thrown off of a 250cc bike with only 24hp in a similar fashion to the video when I was beginning to ride, I second Sev's post.

Later,

THis is dumb. When I first learned how to ride a bike, I was alone. ( stole/borrowed  my farthers bike.... not a 600, I think it was a 250 I think) And no I did not know how to drive a manual car. And I was only about 12 yrs old. Just Took it real easy.

Did I say dumb... My mistake... This is sad. I know it. Lying your bike... all banged up.

How many RPM do you need to shoot it up like that? LOL because I usually put it up to 6000 RPM before I slowly let the clutch in and its not jerky AT ALL. I have to do 6000 or else the bike shuts off.

1. launching w/ a WOT is a master skill. starting from a stop is a basic skill. the kid wasn't trying to launch. he just messed up really really bad.

2. 250cc MSF bikes are underpowered. that's why they use them, less chances of somebody hurting themselves.

3. i will shut up after this... i can't get into arguments anymore since i'll get in trouble here.
