It's the thought that counts right?
Yes, it is the thought that counts. There are other things you can do that won't cost you.
You could make a "coupon book" of "coupons" for things. Some examples are a coupon for a foot massage, or a coupon for a romantic dinner that you make special for her, or a coupon for a movie date...for later when you have some cash....or a coupon for breakfast in bed.

The coupons can then be redeemed and you will of course have to honour the coupons you made.

It is totally the thought that counts! A low $ gift that someone smiles at or uses each day - or enjoys like the ones blues2 rruise is getting are the BEST to get! MMMM maple! I am going to send my mom jams and jellies, and I am going to get the "girls" at work fruit baskets. Other freinds will get fruit baskets as well.

Lat year, my mother in law made me one of those fluffy scarves in Artic Cat green to match my sled (but I don't wear it on the sled...I wear it with my leather coat.) It really meant alot to me that she made it - and in that color!

Wow. I don't think my wife would be down with the coupon book type things. Those are just expected with or with a coupon.

Not that she wouldn't appreciated something along those lines, she totally would. But it better be accompanied by the stuff she specifically ask for as well. :D

I understand about the money being tight. Our last couple Christmas' were that way. With the wife out of school and working again, we get to splurge abit this year.

I'm always amazed at the guys that give foot rubs, make dinner! With that stuff - you shouldn't have to buy christmas presents because everyday is like christmas!

That's actually a pretty cool idea! I'm always up for trying new things. 8)

Less than $20 for sure. I might send cards to people, but that's it. My wife and I have a deal that we wont' buy presents for each other and save that money to take a trip or do something fun later on.

I love the holidays and love spending time with people, but I hate giving as well as receiving gifts.

I make candies for the aunts/uncles/cousins- pecan clusters, truffles, fudge etc.

However, I spent over $1000 on my parents alone. The g/f is getting some cool stuff as are my sisters (4) and brother. Can't forget the g/f's family that is overly materialistic and the pets. All in all I should be right under $1800
