Absolutely "procreating" ridiculous. I was in no mood to read that, it just made me mad.
Okay, we'll agree it's public property, just like a school, town hall, whatever. In the consitution it says no one will be MADE to practice an specific religion. It did not say "we'll make sure no religious symbol is ever shown in public." But that's how everyone seems to take it. They seem to think they have some constitional right to not have to witness, ever, in any public place, anything that could possibly represent a specific religion. What do these people really expect? That every public place is going to be decorated with something from every single religion?
And with this issue specifically, did the good Rabbi ever think maybe the christmas tree had nothing to do with religion, but simple decorating. I don't care who this offends, but a giant, 12ft high minorah is ugly. Plain and simple. It's just not very pleasing to the eye. A christmas tree, on the other hand is. What would you rather see when walking through Macy's? A few brightly decorated christmas trees, or a few oversized minorahs? So, again, at the very least, it's their right (the airports) to decorate in a way that is likely to attract more customers, then in a way that's destructive to their business?
Last thing, out of curiosity, what was the good Rabbi planning on spending the money on if he sued and won? Who wants to bet it's not for a giant minorah to put in front of his temple?

Next thing you know, people will be sued for wearing their religous trappings in public. Ahmed will no longer be able to wear his turban, Moshe will have to leave his yarmulke at home, Hiroshi will have to hide his gasa when he leaves the monestary.
It's all just nuts....

that is nuts, we had some people/ethnic group complain about the CHRISTMAS TREE and MERRY CHRISTMAS signs at city hall/downtown . I think what eventualy happened is that they were told to shove it and the tree and signs stayed. If you dont like/belive in christmas and you are going to "dog" about it then you don't get a paid holliday and are forced to work or administered beatings I see fit

What's next, take down the churches, as they are a religious symbol?

The history of Christmas dates back over 4000 years. Many of our Christmas traditions were celebrated centuries before the Christ child was born. The 12 days of Christmas, the bright fires, the yule log, the giving of gifts, carnivals(parades) with floats, carolers who sing while going from house to house, the holiday feasts, and the church processions can all be traced back to the early Mesopotamians
Traditions say that it has been celebrated since the year 98 AD. In 137 AD the Bishop of Rome ordered the birthday of the Christ Child celebrated as a solemn feast. In 350 AD another Bishop of Rome, Julius I, choose December 25th as the observance of Christmas
All quotes taken from first site chosen at random: SprelwerzAs we have seen, the pagan element in Christmas lives on in the festival at the Winter Solstice. But these elements are also very much alive in our use of evergreens as decorations at this time of year.
Like most evergreens, the holly and mistletoe have long been held to symbolize eternal life, regeneration and rebirth.
However the debat on Christmas trees has been going on from at l;east the 4th Centuary... The tree controversy
The truth is out there.
