Uh.. looking at this from a different perspective here.... if it is 150cc it's not a moped. In the majority of states anything that is over 50cc's and goes faster than 30mph is legally a motorcycle and you need a motorcycle license to ride. You might want to hurry up and take the MSF and get your license before you get pulled over.

As to the original question: Once you take the MSF, if you've got the shifting thing down than I'd say you'd be fine on a midrange bike. Having ridden Veda's scooter, the scooters are a lot more squirrely than a bike will be, but once you adjust to the feel and get used to shifting the rest will be the same.

i was under the impression that anything under 250cc all you had to have was a normal class c drivers licence, if you're right i've been riding illegally

Might wanna keep that part to yourself when you talk to the DMV.
The MSF course is fun and a great way to transition from the scooter.
