Thanks for the link to the warm weather suit, looks insteresting, but I would like to try it on for fit before ordering online, but 600 bucks seems very reasonable to me.

One more question, say I get warm weather gear, but when it gets a bit colder I still want to ride, do I need another cold weather jacket or can something be worn underneath it to break the wind?

i dunno. it depends on your cold tolerance.

i stopped riding in the winter since it's freakin cold/snowing in the mountains. i don't really ride in the city a lot but city riding is bearable even in CA winter.

you could also try wearing a sweater over you riding gear and wear a scarf for your neck.

I don't really want something as small as a ninja 250, I think I'd grow out of it pretty quickly.

A Ninja 250 is NOT a small bike that you will outgrow quickly. It does 0-60 in under 6 seconds - as fast as a Ford Mustang Mach 1 or a Ferrari Testarossa. The Ninja 250 tops out at about 105MPH. It is not a small, wimpy bike. It is faster than anything you have ever driven.

I put about 16,000 miles on mine before I "outgrew" it.

More accurately, I put about 16,000 miles on mine before college-girl-in-a-white-Honda decided to change lanes into me on the highway and totalled it. I was having so much fun on the Ninja 250 that I almost got another one. Instead, I did upgrade to a bigger bike. But, as I said, I had 16,000 miles on the "little" Ninja first.
