If engine braking is important, make sure that the engine/tranny combo that you ultimately buy is not equipped with a slipper clutch. These clutches are specifically designed to minimize engine braking effect on race motorcycles. More and more sportbikes are coming out with this kind of clutch design as standard equipment.

Engine is on the way. I have more questions for the bike gurus, but I think this fits better in the everything else forum so I will start it up over there.
