Talk to her about the MSF, agree to wear safety gear and take her shopping for bikes with you.

My wife said that getting her involved in the decision making made her feel a lot better about the whole idea. She even went to a bike show with me this year and had a wonderful time despite herself. She didn't think she'd enjoy it but, once we got there, she actually sat on some bikes and pointed things out to me that she liked, didn't like, etc.

She's even thinking about getting her own bike in a year or two. I'm hoping she'll take mine and I'll get the new bike...

From an accident point of view as a paramedic, I can tell you that the majority of accidents involving motorcycles that I've been to have been alcohol related. The next most common have been riders striking deer.

People don't seem surprised when an idiot fails a math test, but when an idiot crashes a motorcycle they are all up in arms. Roethlisberger would have been in a totally different boat had he used gear.

OldBlock, maybe if you start out slow, as in, not going on the freeway and just tooling around town for a while, she might feel better about it. +1 to what everyone said about making her be part of the decision process. Show her you will be cautious and always wear your gear.

like others have said all I did was explain to my wife I know its dangerous but thats why im taking the MSF to learn to ride "safer". I have now been riding since last week of July last year .

Great feedback everyone. The advice from "flipper" will be used the most. It's tough for us guys to get into the minds of a woman. I'm sure we will approach the subject sometime this weekend when I'm out looking at bikes.
