Textile is generally cheaper and I do want vents. Most of the joe rocket material out there is still relatively expensive and even though I'll most likely lean towards purchasing a JR jacket for summer use, I was wondering if there was anything else out there that would compare to their ballistic style.

I do not want to lose safety or protection by going to something that isn't armored or at least going to last a few feet on the road. So that rules out a good bit of stuff out there.
Tour Master makes a vented leather jacket that's less than $250. You can find plenty of jackets here: www.ridegear.com

i don't know anything about them, but a riding buddy of mine said he would never buy anything from icon again - poor quality.
I find Icon to be like everything else - they have grades to their quality and you get what you pay for. I bought a cheap pair of gloves from them and they compared to my cheap pair of joe rockets. My buddy has an expensive leather jacket from them and its good quality. Just my experience anyway.

I bought a Tourmaster Transistion jacket back in October and I love it. it's a 3/4length and vents out really well and buttons up well to keep ya toasty also. It's a real nice jacket for sure. 8)

No need to reply to this thread. I was comparing retail prices which is where I start off and I decided on JR. Found a nice JR Ballastics jacket w/ gloves for 50 bucks including the shipping on ebay and snagged them earlier today. I've been chewing on this for the last few days. I like to get a good deal ^^.
