Started riding about 8 years ago and had a massive accident 2 years ago - hit a car head on at a corner at about 60MPH. Obviously wiped out my Fireblade and nearly myself ending up in hospital for loads of months. Setup a website for others who've had this sort of thing happen to them to be able to get together and chat here:

I was clipped in the rear end as I turned off a highway onto a side road by a hit-skip kid in a S-10 pickup in July of 03. I high sided across the side road ahead of my bike and landed all of my 240# on my left shoulder and rolled a bit scratching the heck out or my helmet. There were witnesses and they got the kid later.
Was transported to the Hospital with a broken left collar bone and partially torn rotator cuff and my 97 GS500E was totalled by the insurance company. I was 70 years old then and had ridden about 19 years and over 300k miles and this was the first time "they" got me. Figured if I had another 19 years and 300k miles till the next one I would be OK. Was riding again a couple weeks later since I had an old Hondamatic in the garage. Wouldn't have worked as well if I had landed on my right shoulder.

only wet my pants when a cage left turned in front of me - but that's probably not the kind of accident you're talking about, huh??

Almost got hit on tuesday, driving in the city and had the green light and a truck making a left at the intersection decided to start turning when i was about to be in the intersection. luckly i slowed down prior but since i was very close to him I had to lock up both brakes, luckly i was able to shift my weight and keep the bike upright as it started to slide clockwise, kept it straight, did stall it while moveing due to ignoring the clutch but clutched it still moving and started it up and went around the truck which was stopped in the middle of the intersection. That was a little scary but nobody was hurt.

2 fractured ribs and a few bruises. The bike needs a new shifter, front fender repaired and painted, handlebars, and maybe a mirror.
Minimal damage thankfully.

More folks have voted as having been in an accident than not. That's kinda scary! I haven't yet, but I'm sure someday it will be inevitable.

Three drops at 0mph in different circumstances = scratched mirrors and an indicator. Burnt my bike pants on the pipe while pushing the bike around. That's about it.
PS, Spydercanopus, for what it's worth, I don't think accidents are inevitable. You've got more control over your destiny (well, at least on a bike) than you might think. Take care.

still recovering from my accident last year. broken thumb, tib, fib, and ankle into pieces... 10+ screws and posts + 10 months = walking better but still have pain (probably will forever), will most likely need a foot/ankle brace forever, unless i go under again - which I'm not willing to do at this point. Bike was totalled by insurance - gone now. Hope to ride next season. Still not ready this one.
my soul feels trapped in my cage...
