But how often do you find working bikes for $300?
Mine wasn't $300, but it was $800 + a $40 part.

You *can* find a $1000 bike that runs well and needs no major repairs any time in the future. I did it, it's not impossible.

hmmm planning a trip to Florida any time soon? Sounds like you're a savvy person and you really found a gem. :)

I won't even ask if the buyer's gender makes a difference when negotiating or getting the bike's history.

No, no, no, no. What I know about bikes falls between "jack" and "nothing."

I know about the process I used to become a rider, and I know about the bikes I shopped for. I know a little bit about fixing my own bike because I had to. What I know about motorcycles in general won't fill my empty bottle of Mountain Dew.

But I do love Florida :D

I grew up in New Orleans and spent summer after summer after summer in Destin and Orlando.

I just paid 1500$ for my first bike (94 Yamaha Virago), its in great shape! The boyfriend has been riding for 12 years, and said its perfect for a beginner, there is nothing wrong with it, and it looks nice! It has a new paint job, new carbs, fairly new tires, and a new battery. I guess it helped we got it from a good friend!

True :D. We found at least 10 bikes under 2k that would be great for me! This was the best choice. If I had to go at picking my first bike alone, well I would be totally clueless.

see what I mean?

Well I guess I could get my uncle to help me out. That was my last option as he's a big grouch and yells alot :(

Not to mention his Harley was stolen right under his nose almost 12 years ago and so I don't think that wound has healed enough for him to have gotten another bike much less help me out on getting one.

I'll figure something out :frusty:
