Having already come off of my bike, I couldn't do it. I'm sure it feels great, but really a mesh jacket feels wonderful as well. Really light weight and tis something between you and the ground.

Also, frankly, rocks and bugs. Wow. I get thunked and pelted with them all the time. Even my b/f who is always overheated is fine in his mesh.

There are only two catagories of riders...those who have fallen off, and those who haven't fallen off yet. Wear your gear !!

My wife is a nurse so I know more than I care to about skin grafs, infections, wound care and quality of life with no skin.

I always wear my equipment.

I've done a ride up the street and back, about two blocks without a jacket or helmet, but whenever I'm riding for real, I won't go without a jacket, helmet, ankle high boot, and gloves. I rarely wear riding pants, but I think I really should. Getting hit by bugs and rocks make me glad even if I don't think about falling off.

Depends. If I'm going someplace where I feel I can't leave my jacket without risk of it walking off, I just go t-shirt. If I'm out for a ride and coming back home after a couple hours, I wear it.

I generally wear ATGATT gear for city riding but when touring in UT. MT, ID, SD, WY or AZ in the summer, I have no qualms about riding in a t-shirt and jeans with no helmet for days on end. It's a great feeling and extremely enjoyable. For some reason, I do always wear boots and gloves.

If I had any dependents, I'd probably be geared up though.

Use a cable and a lock ( I use my disc lock) . Works like a charm. Thread the cable through the sleeve of a jacket and the chin bar of your helmet and lock the cable to the disc lock.

I thought of that, but I don't have any place to put the cable and lock while riding.

My budgetary allowances at this point are not allowing me to accessorize my bike like I wish too. Got no bags or any storage on the bike :( And not likely to have any funds for them for quite a long time. :(

Do you have a fanny pack? I sometimes wear a fanny pack when I ride. It holds a wallet lock and cable....and in my case a hairbrush and listick. Have to have the essentials, you know.

Fanny packs can be got cheap at your local whatever store is in your area. WalMart? or some such thing.

Came off at 85mph in a t-shirt & jeans (helmet on though) :crash:
Trust me; the wire brushing of the road rash at the hospital (and Yes - they do that to your already torn up skin) will make you want to wear your gear just going out to look at your bike from then on.
