Marked and unmarked crosswalks. I took that to mean crosswalks without the sign that say "Yield to pedestrians in crosswalks."

I missed the slow vehicle sign for a 95%.

We have no concept of jay walking over here. Pedestrians have right of way everywhere to vehicles. We still have crossings to show safe places to cross, but you do not have to use them.

The ownus is on the car drivers to be aware of whats around them and stop. After all, no matter how much you teach them, some kids will always cross where they like. Better to have the car drivers (supposedly mature responsible people) reacting properly

just to add I think the only exception is motorways. the police will pick up the odd pedestrian who thinks they can just walk down the mtorway hard-shoulder

I knew a girl in charlottesville that was stepping off the sidewalk to let a stroller go by and got smashed by a car the instant her foot hit the pavement.

Police said the driver wasn't at fault because she wasn't in a designated crosswalk.

In the US its a state to state thing. In MA pedestrians also always have the right of way and will definitely just walk out in front of you. Unfortunately downtown, that's the only way to get across because people won't stop for you even if you are in a crosswalk most of the time.

although, in my state, pedestrians only have the right away in marked crosswalks. I just guessed which one they'd want you to pick for that one.


i also think, motorcyclists in general, and especially those who have taken the msf course, will score better on this test.

Japan is great about crosswalks. Sure, they do cross in the middle of the street sometimes. But when they stand on the corner at a light, they respect that walk/don't walk sign. It's incredible. I've never had a JPN person jump out in front of me.

I think their whole concept of 'mass flow' is great too. It encompasses a huge smooth movement into everything that driving and walking around is so predictable.
