Triumph is one of the oldest marques in motorcycling. Read up:
Ian Chadwick's website
They don't make a bike for beginners, the Bonnevilles are the closest to a beginner bike.

im in the market for a new bike and i was searching to buy a ninja for a first bike, but now in dilema that is a bit of unsual. my brother has a 2003 yamaha r6 and practically giving it to me , at first i thought he was joking but he was not. he told me he is gonna buy another bike(bigger) and he said since i am gonna buy one he would give me his bike if i can afford it(insurance wise) it is a reaql good offer since i am gonna get it for free

i know u guys might say it is a big bike but offers like these dont come around as much. what should i do?

It's obvious what you should do.

i am gonna take it but i wanted to know should i still buy the ninja to get expirience on it and store the r6 for a season? or should i just ride the r6 and try getting used to its reactions since its fairly a bigger bike

I have not even seen one in person, but understand it is a beast. It is a supersport to be sure. If a 250 feels like a lot of bike, you'll want to admire the supersports from a distance. Besides, you always drop a bike when you are a new rider - always... Better to drop something inexpensive

im sorry but you cant say always. My grandfather has been riding for 50 years and has not once dropped a bike. Me im still a noob but ive ridden just shy of 3k miles in less than a year (damn winter) and havent dropped it yet.

The Daytona 675 is an awesome bike - perfect for a track junkie - similar to a Honda CBR600RR, Ninja 600, Yamaha R6, Suzuki GSX600. Not a beginner bike!!!!
Best advice I got when beginning riding was to spend no more than $1000 on my first bike, and ride more than 1000 mi before looking for a 2nd bike. I found a GS500E, rode it for about 6 months, then sold it for what I bought it for, and got a Triumph Bonneville. I didn't drop the first bike (a GS500E), but if I had, it would have cost me a lot less than dropping the Bonnie.

If the deal is really too good to pass and you are willing to actually park it this could work. Check on storage insurance for bikes that are not ridden. Get something small and cheap to learn on and resist the temptation to take out the R6 until you are ready. Be aware that it may be more than one season until you are ready to move up. IMHO many move up before they are ready.

thanks for the reply as of twp days ago the r6 is mine i have it sitting in the garaged i turned it on a couple of times but that is "O Ring" far as it goes..

(hopefully) its currently uninsured so i would not take it out even if i was tempted to. i am looking to get a ninja for the summer so i can ride on since i have had prior exp. on other types of bikes...but ooh man when i see that r6 i contemplate it lol
