I have no problem saying no......maybe 'cause I'm an ignorant prick
That said; I'll switch bikes with my long time riding buddy Cal, TotalMike (if he ever gets around to it) and TotalAndrea when she tries the VFR on for size. And I still own Sev a ride on the same VFR....

"Can you give me a deposit of the value of my bike to hold while you are on it? I promise to return most of it..."

If they ask, the answer is always NO!!
Experienced riders know better than to ask. Most bikers I know are hesitant to even drive another man's bike when given the offer.
Why? Well it's personal. I ride my bike like it's my stick. It's an extension of me that I try to steer in the right direction.
You wouldn't ask another man if you could rider their stick would you?

I'm sorry but my insurance only covers me and no one else even with a license.

My buddy parks his bike at my place because I have covered parking. He left me his extra key.
I decided to move our bikes to take advantage of a better spot. The 100 feet I went at 4mph on his bike felt really weird. There's something unsettling about riding someone else's bike.

i have no issue with my buds riding my bike, its insured.
im more worried about them hurting them selves on my machine than I am about the bike.
only thing is for my blessing, ya must have a full license or no ride for you, cause im not covered for learner riders throwing my bike down the road.
dont get me wrong i love riding and i love my bike, but its just a bike, and it likes to be ridden, and its not fussy who rides it

I let my brother ride my bike a couple of times. That all ended when he rode it into a liquor store. I had to pay for the window and all the repairs to my bike.
No should work.

I could never be so relaxed. I have insurance, but I don't have the cash for the deductable, since I pick a higher one to keep the insurance cheap. I also don't have a spare bike, so if someone wrecks my bike I'd have to wait until the wrecked on got fixed or replaced. And as you mentioned, if someone got hurt on my bike, I would hate the after effect of that happening.
A very small and select group of people could ever ride my bike, but it would never be a buddy, unless they were someone I'd ridden with and knew what they were like on a bike. No one is going to sample riding on my bike.

Just say "no, sorry thats never gonna happen - end of discussion" and DON'T GIVE THEM THE KEYS
If they want to ride a bike, they can damned well do the msf and go buy their own one
Some things are just to important to "wimp" foot around, letting someone know where the boundries are, is important. No matter whether they're a friend, relative or anything else.
***EDIT***
And I'd have gotten away with it too if it wasn't for that meddling profanity filter... We really censor "wimp" ?
