I use jump boots. A bit lighter than my standard issue boots and still provide ankle support.

Assuming they provice good ankel support, the next issue is general comfort to wear and ease of putting them on/off. This is where you end up paying more money. In a nut shell, I don't believe you have to have motorcycle specific boots to do the job and be comfortable.

I have oxter boots. Great for a wider foot. They break in quickly and are very comfortable. I squeak a lot but I happily trundle around in them all day. Two crashes and lots of grinding and they are still fine to wear.

The shoe store in the mall here got in a big shipment of harley boots on clearance, $60. I really like them a lot. They have zippers down the inside so I can take them off/put them on in seconds. They go well above the ankle and offer a lot of support/protection.

The only thing I found with the Harley boots is that the SO did not suit the sports bike that I have. I reckon you need to be riding something with some pretty serious clout to carry off the Harley boot style. 8)
