New Bagger Models w/ ABS option

#13 Unread post by OhioHarleyGuy »

I have been telling everyone for 2 years that when they make the ABS an option for the general public that I would be buying.

Now I've got to uphold my promise.

Got to figure out if I want the Electra Glide Classic or the Ultra. Not sure I like the lower farings and would like a removable tour pack, so I'll likely go with the Electra Glide Classic.

If anyone has advice on which to choose, let me know your thoughts.

Prices Up?

#14 Unread post by OhioHarleyGuy »

Hey, I checked the prices on the baggers this morning and went back to look at it after lunch.

It seems all of the base prices are up $3,000 while I was at lunch. The options went up during lunch too!

Prices?

#15 Unread post by OhioHarleyGuy »

Okay so when I click on the compare models and only have one model picked the prices are the same as this morning.

BUT, when you add 2 more bikes to compare against each other, then the prices are up. also noted that when you compare 3 models, the measurements are metric vs. inches & pounds.

Maybe the comparison is showing Canadian prices & specs.

Oops, my bad... I posted the link to Harley Canada's website. You'll want to go to Harley USA.

The Rocker is cool looking. Besides that and price increases, nothing new or earth shattering. I was kind of hoping for a V-Rod Bagger.

Keeping my fingers crossed for ABS as an option on the baggers!
ABS brakes will be great, but I don't like the idea of loosing half the room in my right saddle bag were the unit is.
Could they not of put it somewhere else?

I'm wondering if that is how they're still doing it. I know that was a common complaint on earlier Police models that had ABS, but I haven't been able to find any info or pics about this on the '08 civilian models.

BTW, did you catch that there are no more throttle cables? It is a fly-by-wire system now... I am very curious to see this up close. I will be at the next demo ride, you can bet on that!

No Throttle Cable

#20 Unread post by OhioHarleyGuy »

I saw pictures of the the throttle set up on the harley web page. It is now all internal to the handle bars. So that's a plus.

I wonder if it will accomodate the current aftermarket grips or if they will have to designe a new one?
