While were joking around and don't get offended...I just have to ask....how does that Road Glide ride? Next to the Vrod thats the oddest looking Harley that I just can't get use to the design. I understand that unlike the FL's, whose fairing is attached to the front end, while the fairing on your glide is attached to the frame(yes/no?). Difference maker/advantage is what? I have seen a couple up close and I just cannot get use to the shark nosed fairing look. Isn't that what it is referred to as? I am by no means putting it down. And while they have been making the road glide for awhile its is a very different looking breed of Harley in my opinion.

Directed to the Harley Davidson user forum by another poster here and I joined but could not see where there were any discussion or maybe because my membership is pending i wasn't allowed to view them? Anyway I saw you were the handsome moderator and saw also you had your own web site too so I checked it out(nice wen site and thanks for the other HD links). It was there I read your synopsis about your first experience with the Road Glide and found your input interesting. BS bummer factory wouldn't honor your seat rubbing issue. Sure was hoping that corporate was learning to be more customer friendly, as back in the late 70's through early 90's they were not (from my experience). You would of thought that the Ronald Reagan bail out of the 1980's would have made them more appreciative to its customers. Guess not,eh. Still....... love the bike.

I just love that FatBob!!! I'm a sportbike guy, so that meaty front tire and short forks really gets me going! As soon as I graduate, pay off my bills, buy a house, and save up 15 g's; I'm getting me a FatBob! I'm salivating at the thought.....

The Fatboy is a fine looking machine. (odd choice for a sport bike guy) Thats a tall order to fill first. Why not graduate, get a job then buy the bike on credit so while you're working towards the house, you'll at least have moments of happiness .

It worked out real well for me. When I was first married and we had a new born and one on the way, I traded my 1981 XLS sportser in for a 1983 FLHS. Oh everyone but me and my wife we're mad. Her parents my parents. Why didn't we buy a station wagon? blah blah blah. Still have that bike while others I've had have come and go.

No offense taken. The Road Glide is definitely a "love it or hate it" option when it comes to the styling and it's not everyone's cup of tea.

I owned an Electra-Glide Standard and I find that the Road Glide is far superior in ride quality and comfort. The frame mounted fairing takes all the wind pressure off the handlebars and the steering is lighter and more precise because of it. And that fairing does a better job of keeping the wind off the upper body, compared to the bat wing fairing of the E-Glide. The only two issues I have had with the bike are the seat and the design of the windshield. Both are easily corrected via the aftermarket, but on a $21K bike things like that shouldn't happen. Harley hasn't changed much over the years with regards to customer service, but if you're fortunate to have an excellent dealer like I have, they really take good care of you.

Yes, you've posted that a couple times on TMW already, thanks for the public service. But did you actually read through the article? Here's a quote from it that puts it all into context: "The OEM engine will go into this "high heat" mode in about 10 minutes of idling at 78 degree ambient temperatures in shady conditions."

Ten minutes of idling. ANY air-cooled bike, especially one that is set up to meet current EPA stantards, will develop excessive heat problems if it is left idling for ten minutes. And any idiot that lets an air cooled bike idle for ten minutes - in the shade or otherwise - deserves to have problems with it.

I totally agree, a biker that allows his machine to idle for 10 minutes without moving is NUTS. But, I think what they are trying to get across in the article is that it doesn't take high outside heat, nor bright sunshine to get the engine in the heat mode. Sitting in shade on a cool day will do it also........ just my take on the article.

you are not really going to hurt a harley by letting it idle for 10 minutes. is the bike allready warmed up? if its stone cool on a cool day (say 50F) ten mintues is how long it will take to get up to operation temperature. at least. remember, air cooled HDs runs a lot hoter than liquid cooled bikes. most liquid cooled bikes are runnin 170-190F. twin cam is 250-265f and an evo is 270-290f. dont like idleing. never buy a ex-cop bike. theyll let em sit idling all day. Low miles tons of operation hours. seen some bad deals with that.
