Way I see it is, you could mount a flashing strobe light on your helmet, wrap yourself in multi-coloured reflective strips, and have flare dispensers with a proximity fused launcher strapped to your front fender and pinion seat.......and there would still be cagers who will fail to see or notice you.......such is the lot of motorcyclist.....

Personally I ride as if I am completely invisible and those in cages sharing the road with me are being guided by seeing eye dogs.

Aside from all the usual precautions (bright helmet, reflective vest), at night I strap this to my left bicep and use the strobe.

Since it's on my left arm, it can be seen by cars behind, in front, and in the oncoming lane. Still ride like I'm invisible though.

I added stuff on to get cars to notice me at a stop light and if stuff happens I made it that much harder to come up with excuses. Plus I am also proving to the governor that despite making myself visible people still don't pay attention to motorcycles or bicyclists etc. on the road.

What gets me though is that people generally stay away from a loud motorcycle but then that leads to more people hating bikers.

Another thing I learned is that lights work better when they are at eye level. As for people in front of me well I always anticipate them not seeing me plus my head lamp is pretty small compared to bigger bikes and sport bikes. It doesn't even have multi-reflectors! Kawasaki cheapskated on that one.

I'm gonna have to take them all off Saturday, I don't want to be laughed at if I decide to go to an import motor show in Elmont, NY.

That design is long gone. I've changed it to be a little more tasteful and cleaner looking.

It was either add more lights or continue wearing my Icon Mil-Spec vest (orange) which was pretty gay (not that there's anything wrong with that).

I really like the look of the UK police bikes.



Does anyone know if all that green/blue stuff is reflective? I'm thinking of doing this to my scooter. It certainly is conspicuous.

I suspect that this will take me deep into the "dork zone", perhaps far enough to circle back and be cool again.

This is an update on my cleaning up and also giving up. Despite being visible it seems drivers can't see a motorcycle and rider on the road despite being taller than a car though narrower.

This is from my parent's SUV in the rain, I can clearly see it.


This is the front end with some fork reflectors.


I find the glowing a bit eerie, I don't wear this vest anyhow unless on a secluded road with no lights.
