My first time on my bike I was scared ****less (edit: the editor doesn't catch compound words) It got better with more time in the seat in the parking lot. Took my first 2 rode rides the week before MSF and it felt absolutely great! After MSF, I felt validated and off I went, riding around legally

First time being a rider was at the course - super scary freaky etc but defnitely doable.

First time on my own bike after purchase - WOW!

I guess about the best way to describe my first time is about the same as my wife describes hers..

Almost like flying while still on the ground..

BTW in our MSF course, our instructor mentioned that the course is "fast-paced", then followed it up by saying that in the 24 hr scheduled class time we would be getting roughly 3 years of experience/knowledge. Now saying that he only meant that it would take the average person 3 years to gain the knowledge that they were giving us in those 3 days..

First time was in the driveway. It wasn't as bad as I had feared and I was able to make it go.

Then MSF class and I got more comfortable.

I was a nervous mess for the first month or so. Then it started to become more and more natural. Now sometimes I find myself flying down the road, enjoying the flow of my bike over the road without consciously thinking about what I am doing to make the bike go. I'm scanning the road, checking for hazards and DEER and vehicles and such but also enjoying the air flowing over me, the hum of the engine the scent of summer.. etc etc..

My first time on my new (to me) bike didn't go very well. I dumped it on a low speed turn within the first 10 min.

Had there been an MSF course available back then, I probably could have avoided 99% of the mistakes I made while learning the hard way.

My first time on a bike was my 1984 honda 50 when I was about 6 or 7. Dumped it a few times but loved riding since. But before that I had ridden around on the back of my parents harleys since I can remember. When I was ten I got on my first real bike with a clutch, my dad saw it fit that i start on a 250cc dirtbike. That day ended in a lot of bruises since he lives in west virginia and the trails aren't made for beginners haha. But that experience spiked my learning curve as I only got to practice shifting for an hour in the yard before i went for some of the harder trails in the mountains. I got a fractured bone in my hand the first day, and probably the worst bruise of my life on my leg. Then my first street bike was the buell blast at the MSF course. Enjoyed riding it, but i wasn't a fan of the bike it wasn't liquid cooled and they had been sitting in the sun all day and never went over 20mph for almost 8 straight hours of riding.

My first time on a bike was at the age of 18, driving my buddy's bike back and forth for two blocks on the little residential street he lived on. I probably came a lot closer to hurting myself than I knew and managed to scare myself enough that I decided that I needed to wait awhile. Then I got married out of college and my wife had seen a bad wreck and was unable to handle the thought of me riding. I decided that it wasn't worth the stress that riding would have introduced. One divorce and 20 years after my first attempt at motorcycle riding and I was ready to try again.

My second "first time" was climbing onto that 250cc bike in the BRC course. I was taking that course to see if it was really something I wanted to do, and to make my second foray a little more successful if I was going to ride. By the end of the first day I was hooked and window shopping for bikes with some others in my class at a local dealer. I had planned on shopping for at least a month after getting my license before buying a bike, I had it in less than a week.

Terrifying since I had no training but also seemed to have a lot of potential for primal fun.
