I have gone to the website IndependenceDave gave and they have ways of turning in people like this. should i turn them in or just let it go? Should i contact the guy and let him know i believe its a fraud? whats next?

Ive been interested in bikes for some time now and have been looking for a bike. One night i was looking through cycletrader.com and come across one that i thought was to good to be true but went ahead and emailed the guy about it. (2006 CBR 600RR)

The guy had the bike for sale right before he was going to move to texas and never got it sold before he moved so instead of hauling it he left it in the possesion of a shipping company (Freight Plus) out of Pennsylvania that acts as a third party in deals. So we have been emailing back and forth for several weeks now and have finally agreed on the terms and such so we could start the transaction which has just taken place.

My problem...
I have checked out the shipping company with the BBB and the Federal something and they are for real, but now that the transaction has started they want me to wire the money through wester union to some dude in London that was put in charge of this sale. They havent mislead me by no means i just wasnt expecting this. But to me this sounds kind of bogus i mean the bike is in Pennsylvania but they want the money sent to London??? :?

Has anyone every dealt with this company before? what should i do??

i really want the bike and it all seems perfect except that they want the money sent to London.

Input PLEASE!!

Please tell us this CBR600RR is not your first bike.....for the love of god tell us it isn't...

Anyways, I work in the transportation as a freight broker, aka freight wh*re, aka: the dark side of trucking. And I can tell you straight up....this has scam written on it in big red letters drawn in day-glo crayon. No reputable carrier, freight broker or agent would ever agree to transport or hold goods with those terms.

Don't walk away from this "deal", but run away from it as fast as your little legs can carry you. Or better yet, just send me your cash.....the results will the same, you out of pocket and no bike, only difference is you would be enriching a fellow rider and TMW member instead of some faceless evil bugger.

I think it's a good idea to let the deal go and I'd definitely turn it in for fraud investigation.

Something to remember for the future; Always call and talk to a real person if you're in doubt. Email and website forwarding is very easy and difficult to notice if done correctly. Use an independant source to get the company's phone number and contact them that way.

Good Luck with your continueing search for a bike and Stay Safe Out There!

We already know 100% for sure that it's a scam. It's a classic, classic scam. You will wire money and you will never hear from any of these people ever again.

In any case, be glad it's not working out. A Race Replica bike (that's what the RR stands for) is a bike meant for experienced riders. They are unforgiving and will punish you for the mistakes you will inevitably make while learning. That punishment often involves crashes and death.

Don't get a Race Replica bike as your first bike. You wouldn't give a 16 year old an Enzo for a first car, would you?

Actually, I'll prove it to you.

What's the email address of the shipping company you've been corresponding with?

This is the email - freightplus@email.com

and this is there website - www.freightplus.st

Yeah im running away as much as i dont want to. And i already know Race Replica bikes arent good for begginers but what can i say im a stubborn bull headed teenager that doesnt like to be told what to do. :frusty:  Not that i dont apppreciate the advice and i will more than likely take it in the end.

As soon as jonnythan gets back to me on what he found on the company i am going to turn them in for investigation through a website that was sited on here. But what should i tell them i havent actually been scammed yet i only suspect its a scam i dont have any proof.

So this Richard Yoder guy owns the site, and he's in VA, though the company claims to be in PA. They also have no phone number listed on the website, and a bunch of spelling and grammar mistakes. Plus, the .st address should set off some warning bells as well. Definetly doesn't pass the smell test.

If you look at the source of the site listed, it is a frame that is actually sourced from this site: http://freight.bravehost.com/

Plus at the bottom of the page is an orphaned Body tag.

Site looks like one of those pre-made templates you can get for free on the web.

Pretty elaborate scam attempt. Glad you decided to heed the advice of the board and run from this "deal."
