Yes, it's irritating when advice is seemingly ignored and questions are re-posted endlessly. But the kid is excited, and wants to do what he wants to do. Who wasn't in that situation at one point in their lives? And who, in their enthusiam, hasn't stretched a bit (or a lot) beyond their skill level at some point, especially on this forum? He's gonna do whatever the hell he wants to do, and all anyone else here can do is give good advice and hope he listens to it at some point. But he's more likely to listen to it if he's not flamed.

I make my living giving advice to people who pay good money for it and then usually ignore it. That's their prerogative.

Hey folks, as we get upset with each other here........

consider something: there was a thread on the Soapbox a couple weeks ago, theme was: we should ignore the typical "hey I'm a noob and I can handle a 600cc race replica" posts. There's nothing new to be said, the info is in the stickies, trolls seeking validation or excitement are gonna ignore the advice anyway, why let them upset the forum?

I'm as guilty as anyone of jumping into the fray, but that thread made me stop and think. It made sense to me, anyway......

This is the New Bikers Forum and as much as I hate the repeat questions that have been answered 100 plus times, they have a right to be a newbie.

This is not the experienced riders forum where I would expect people to have read the sticky posts and done a little searching on the site for similar quesitons. The most I do is refer them to the sticky, anything else is a waste of time.

So don't get upset, just skip over the newbie section when you see the weekly repeat questions. It would be nice if the mods where a bit more proactive on this issue in general. Otherwise we will loose the experience riders that make this site what it is-GREAT.

I don't mind newbs coming in here, disregarding the stickies, and asking questions. I am one such noob after all, it'd be a bit hypocritical to disapprove of it.

But this SAME noob came in here and asked the SAME question not that long ago. He's already received this forum's (vary patient) engraved invitations to Do the Right Thing and been pointed in the right direction.

Anything else is a waste of space.

Hi guys. Ive already posted this question on another topic in this forum where it didnt really belong. Im not trying to waste time, but what does anyone here think about Honda CBR250's? Everone on this forum says that learner bikes as 250 Ninja's or a GS-500's (or cruisers).

Someone on the other topic said that the little Honda's pack a fair punch and would be stretching the limit of a learner, but still an option. If i could get any comments from anyone who rides one or knows about them it would be great. Im just hoping that since they are a 250 they will be more forgiving in the lower revs (atleast), making it good to learn on. And by the way if anyone knows anything about VTR-250's that would be great too.

Thanks mate. Thats just what i need aye (not). I got positive comments in return on the other topic, its just that one was a bit shakey so i wanted further information on the bike before running out and grabbing one. Oh well ... if you dont want to help thats ok but you dont have to give me crap about it ...

Too bad in this case noone said "NO", i got one maybe and a yes, so that mum or dad says no crap is a bit irrelevant. Oh well

GO BACK and read the original topic and post in this thread. The comment was directed there. You posted your question in someone elses thread ... and the reply was directed at them. Next time start your own post.

Hey man, I noticed this in other posts, you keep posting your questions in someone else's thread. I think that's where all thisconfusion iscoming from about who replied to who...

Make a new post and post up your questions that way all the the replies will be focused to you. BTW, as I answered in the other post, the CBR250RR is a great first bike, ~40hp and good fun.
