Even this thread is a re-hash. It was from comments like these that we created the new bikers forum. Unfortunately most everything has been covered before if you have been around here long enough. Sometimes though, a thread will go in a completely different direction with a different mix of people. New people want the discussion with their own input instead of dragging up some old thread from the dead. The best solution is to skip the thread if you are tired of the same old subject....

Veda wrote:I think the repetitive threads are the nature of the beast. New people are constantly getting into motorcycling and newbies love to talk about their new hobby. Newbies are always going to post these questions and other newbies that have been around a couple months will always answer because it makes them feel good about their new knowledge.
I am on a ninja forum that has an extensive FAQ/wiki page. In the forums if you ask a question that is even remotely similar to a topic covered in the FAQ the forum regulars jump all over you and leave five replies that just say "read the FAQ." That sort of thing discourages new posters from being part of the community.
Now, can we go back to talking about the overly large signatures? JCViper, could you make yours smaller?

It's impossible for the mods to see every single post that gets posted. The bigger problem is that a lot of people don't bother to use the search button.
It's quicker and easier to type whatever pops into your head than to "search" or to read the stickies.
Perhaps the registration form for new members could include a line about reading the stickies and using the search function. I was here for awhile before I even knew about the search feature.

could also help reduce the problem.
Great post storysunfolding!
Me votes it becomes a sticky in New Bikers Forum.

brilliant! a posting of a link that takes you to another posting of link about posting in a forum!

...... which itself is repetitive since MASHBY posted it before: the
"Thread of All Threads" thread

Here it goes...
Repetitive threads and the posting thereof...
or
Repetitive threads and the abundance thereof...

It really doesn't bother me...I can easily skip the ones I don't want to read.
