LOL thats like me going to a machine that wont run at work and just hitting the reset button and the start button and it takes off. Happens all the time. Then they feel all stupid but I just shake it off and say "Job security if you didnt do something like this I wouldnt have a job" lol.
Yeah I try to tell that to myself when I'm busy crying of boredom usually

Just reminded myself of another where one of the slimline pc's (SFFD's if you've ever dealt with Dell gear) Which was "Eating" CD's.
Now this confused the hell out of me, how can you put a cd into a drive, and not have it come out when you open the tray again.
3 hour journey later, I discovered the disc hadn't been clipped onto the spindle before being inserted, the damn discs were being pushed ontop of the CD drive through a thin gap where it meets the plastic fascia

A little off-topic. But I was getting 1 call a week saying, "my bike dies when I go into gear."
LOL!

Anywho I just spent 6 hours fixing a guys computer. Problems:
200 Virus's
369 Spyware/adware
Windows XP home SP1
1GB of fragmented and corrupted registry data.
First I took care of the Virus's and spyware (that was 3 hours cause the computer was so slowed down that it took me 15 minutes to boot the computer into windows and another 15 just to connect to the internet thanks to a bout 40 porno pop ups). Got that taken care of and then went through and Uninstalled a bunch of bloatware dell likes to instal (you know the free "trials" for internet and other programs) and a few other non essential programs that there is no need to have on a computer. that took max of 45 minutes but I removed about 15 gig of programs.
Then I ran CCleaner to identify and remove bad items in the registry as well as items in temp directory etc etc. ended up being around 1.2 GB of data fixed/removed there.
Then I had to figure out why SP2 would not install. Finally found the registry item (google works wonders finding out what to do to find out why sp2 wouldnt install) that was keeping me from installing sp2 and changed permissions to allow me to install sp2. Installed sp2 total time about an hour with having to look up how to get it to install and having to try and install it 3x (third time was the charm but the 2nd time had to be done to find the registry item that was causing my problem).
Then ran spyware/virus cleaners again but this time it only took 30 minutes to run both and there was only 3 more spyware found most likely installed before sp2 was finished.
reran CCleaner found a couple new entries but nothing major. Total time was 6 hours though most of it was spent playing xbox360 while things like the virus scanner ran the first time
