This is not fair. We have a group of various levels of knowledge of bikes on this forum. I think you can get varied opinions and ideas here. I would not use this as your only source, but I would rely on it as a supliment. It is far better than you make it sound, and you are one of the valuable sources here.

We have engineers, mechanics, guys who have ridden for 10s of years, long time enthusiasts, and you think that is not a valuable resource. If you are saying it should not be the main source of info, I agree. If you think that someone should discard info given here, you are way off the mark.

Many actual mechanics are FOS when they talk about stuff as well. The benefit on a forum such as this one is that when someone says something dead wrong, there are others here to correct him or her.

When your mechanic tells you something dead wrong, you often never know.

Check out the MMI (motorcycle mech. Ins.) basic class text book. Here they have it in the library. Very basic and has a lot of theory. (this book is like taking a Frosh class in what will be your major) Also check some of the national bookstore chains like Hastings or Barnes/Nobel.

I said it should be taken with a grain of salt. Not that it was always incorrect or that it should be completely disregarded. I've offered a lot of advise on here, and some of it has been wrong.

I've seen a lot offered that is wrong - such as your alternator is broken because the bike dies when you disconnect the battery.

SO, when I say, "take it with a grain of salt." That (to me) means - you should question, then run through your logic checker to see if what is said actually makes sense.


And please... don't tell me what "I think."
