The first biker wave that I initiated was last week while riding home from work. I didn't realize it until he passed but it was a cop who waived back at me! I was all kinds of excited! hehehe
They say you always remember your first...
I'm still so new to riding that I sometimes can't pay attention to if there are other riders out there so I think I may have missed a few waives but hopefully they'll just realize I'm new or something.

I'm cautious with cops. I'll nod but not wave, and that's to acknowledge that I've seen them. If something ticks them off, for whatever reason, they can spoil your day and hassle you. I don't differentiate between riding and non-riding cops, as they seem to be all the same regardless of their vehicle.

hahahah
i was downtown (calgary, ab) and there was a 'cop-cycle' parked on the side walk. i was checkin out his bike, (i didnt know calgary police rode custom harleys') and he comes outta the court house.
i asked him why he was able to park on the sidewalk, and i got a ticket for it.
he said he had a parking pass (points at his badge)
we both laugh and talk about his bike a bit, then he tells me a story about how he went to court one day for ticketing a bikers ride for parking in the handicapped zone.
he said the dude told the judge "oh someone musta pop'd my bike to neutral and moved it to the handicapped zone"
the judge let him go
hahaha
so i guess ill have to say "friend" only cause he seemed cool. im sure he'll bust me some time for something 'rock n roll'

Good and bad ones. I like to know where they are in reference to where I am at any given moment while riding. It probably pays to at least be friendly. Today in USA they don't seem to need any reason to pull you over. Why give them one? Does it hurt to pretend that your on the same side?
I wouldn't reccomend giving the one finger salute at any time, that goes real bad real fast.

We stopped at a red light and i looked over at them and nodded like i do to all bikers but all they did was give me this dirty look like they wanted to pull me over. This is int the first time either. ive ridden by bike cops before and have never gotten response. So my question is do you wave or nod at bike cops.
You'll find that most young cops are a** holes. They all have "Nepolian complexes". Put them on a bike and their cheeks spread even bigger.

I dont trust any of them
IMHO they are all bent, crooked, deviant and they think that have a free pass to tell lies and break most laws as they see fit.
When I see one on the road, Im usually just waiting for the little party prick to dream up some reason to cost me time and money.
Motorcycle cops, I dont wave to them, I spit in their general directions.
Sidenote: I was pulled up yesturday on one of the highways by this fat little turd on his gay white bike, becuase he noticed that I had to much road/surface grime on my N.O plate (it had been raining a bit here lately and I dont wash the bike when the weather is going to be crap) reckons my rego number was obstructed...fricking num nut wanker...This is only an issue becuase my country is littered with speed cameras so they are touchy with rego plates cause if they are anything but pristine the cameras cant read the plates, WELL THAT WOULD BE A DAMN SHAME WOULDNT IT!!!!!

Just last month I was going down the highway in my car, a little too fast, i guess, and a motorcycle cop pulled out and put on his lights behind me. I slowed down, and pulled over, he pulled up close behind me, then he came up next to me, gave me a "motorcycle wave", and then went after the guy in front of me. I guess he liked my, "LOOK TWICE SAVE A LIFE MOTORCYCLES ARE EVERYWHERE" bumpersticker!

Guess since I'm married to a motocop he'd be my friend, right?
There are always good cops and bad cops... just depends on the person... the ones I know are pretty cool!

I wave at every VA State Trooper that is riding a motorcycle that I see. State Trooper or not, they are still a fellow rider.
